Do you know the Chicken Rice Shop theme song?

Happy independence day Malaysia. You may have a flawed judiciary system, politics that are in constant flux, an education system that if anything, is NOT going to give the students the so-called 'soft landing' and not to mention, a system that does not give equality and better opportunities for the capable ones. I still love you because thank goodness you have good food. =.=

I shall not rant on the above subjects any further because I have better things to talk about!

Dad couldn't get the hang of using the mask. He says the air keeps fogging up his glasses whenever he breathes out. He wasn't a happy camper haha=)

There are some things that I still enjoy at 20. Eating ice-cream with my cousins and singing along to songs on the radio and theme songs from Gardenia and Chicken Rice Shop. Watching Cow and Chicken and Disney movies and crying over them. Listening to afternoon gossip with grandma. Riding a bike around the house compound. I sound so kampung i know.

But really who cares as long as you're having fun!

When I grow up to have a family of my own, I'd make sure we'll be a closely knit one. And I will have children that enjoy a trip to Grandma's. Spending time with your family doesn't make you uncool, it makes you realize that they are just as fun to be with, just in a different way. And so what if your parents embarrass you in public? Laugh it off!

This is normally Shan's specialty but I can't help it! Here's a pass year question for Physiology:
Look at the picture below. Name the object and its parts. Juniors take note. This question came out twice during our year.

Get it? get it? hahahaha.... I crack myself up

I'm Mourning

Edward Scissorhands decided I needed more than just a trim, so he gave me this.

I mean, I'm okay with it. Starting to love it actually. Forget the fact that he didn't do what I asked him to and that I've been TRYING to keep my hair. Maybe having long hair and I aren't just meant to be. RAAR.

I forgot to collect the hair that he happily cut off so that I can have a proper burial. And then I'll play some heartbraking Taylor Swift song What is it with me and Taylor Swift and I'll invite 10 of my closest family and friends.
These are not pebbles to lay your zen garden. Buah keluak. Real good stuff. Cook it with blended spices and asam water. HEAVEN!!!

I miss my brother. He's probably the only person who gets all my stupid jokes and actually thinks they are funny.

Can I have your guitar now?

I'd be rolling with the gangsters

Before I go about unleashing total damnation upon the place I currently live in, I do have something to say in my defense. I'm saving your lives. So try not to move to this side of town. I'm having a very Taylor Swift moment right now. Ya know, girl from small town with a lot of misery and anxiety.

Crime happens practically everywhere but the ones happening here are making me more nervous compared to when I'm alone in big cities like KL for instance. The victims from recent, separate events are all known to me so maybe that's why I pee in my pants more here. There's just something evil about this small town.

A few months back my mum was a victim of snatch theft, happened when we were tyring to cross a busy road. Then few weeks back someone got into a coma because some robber was trying to steal his car then hit him in the head. Then days later 2 cars, a few laptops and other valuables were stolen from a family. Right now, thinking about it is making me shit scared.
One of the MANY huge houses the size of AIMST dental faculty+engineering faculty+library. Don't know if gangsters live here.
This place is filled with shitloads of criminals. There are gangsters living everywhere and they are quite well to do. I hear that there's a smuggler who lives across the street from where I live. There's a tai ko living around the corner of my housing area, sipping his vodka, cigar in hand. Even the police are afraid of the gangsters here. No joke wei, no joke.
So I guess the lesson to all this is that we have to be careful. Take precautions. Get something long and hard.
A baseball bat. To hit people with.
In my case, we have the perfect defense mechanism should anything happen.

O great. My food-loving, tail-wagging, fun-loving ball of fur.

I will be going back to uni in about 2 weeks. Friends, I'm the one with the round face, round ass and extra fat squeezing out from where the bra is holding the rest of me in. Just in case you mistaken me for someone else.

I Want Balls.

Kaya balls.

The rate of food consumption has been steadily increasing by the day. My parents have been feeding me. Well and a lot. I will so miss home food once I leave for uni again.

You know how dogs drink water from a bowl? The sound it makes? There's something very comforting about that. Dogs make water sound so delicious you want to dunk your face into the bowl with them and start slurping.

I hope these aren't the gift bags my cousin is giving out on his wedding this Dec.
I went for aerobics with my mum today I need my exercise okay plus I get to spend time with Mother. Do you know how cute it is to see your mum bopping around to the music? So cute=) However she doesn't particularly enjoy the entire session because she claims it is not REAL aerobics. This ones got some dance in it. Nevertheless still cute! They even had that song Ice Ice Baby and there was this ass spanking move. And krumping. Pretty skanky stuff.
Was watching some reality show few days back and there was this girl whose boyfriend was cheating on her. Then the girl tried to defend her guy by saying he's like that because he's a Gemini. WHAT?! Even Paris Hilton could have come up with a better answer! But accepting how a person is based on his zodiac? That's a whole new level of dumb.
The thing that made my day today was listening to songs from boy bands of the 90's. N sync, Backstreet Boys, Westlife and some other gay-ish ones I forgot their names. One even had some kind of sheer top. Yeaks. And the hair dos with 2 years worth of hair products in it. But I still love'em! Do you ever realize that in about 50 years time, these songs will be oldies? And so will songs from The Pussycat Dolls. I cringe at the thought of that.

If there is anything that I do miss during the holidays, it would be the people back in uni.

My Nocireceptors Are Working Just Fine

Thank goodness I didn't drop the baking tin. But I'm gonna need a band aid.

There's an oven in my kitchen which is probably the age of all BDS Batch 4 students AND our lecturers combined. Actually there are so many things in my house that are old but still up and running. I'm amazed by how well they are maintained after all these years. Plus they have survived even after moving houses for the 4th time. My family has moved around East Malaysia so much it almost looks like we're fugitives on the run=.=

At this very moment I am sitting upstairs while my parents are watching the men's doubles finals. They are screaming their heads off. I did not bother to join them because I've lost my enthusiasm for badminton after Malaysia's lost yesterday. GAHH!
Balitong masak lemak. You know how every balitong has that black disc like thingy? (We call it the eye)
This is what I can do with it. Fascinating, no?
Now I can be Gurmit Singh's double should he be unavailable to play Chu Kang.

Screw it I need to watch the match. Too good to miss.
Speaking of old things, I have been listening to oldies the entire weekend. Dai Shan and Peta will agree when I say I was born in the wrong music era. Here are some of my faves:

1. living next door to Alice -Smokie (SMOKIE ROCKS)
2. what's new pussycat - Tom Jones

3. tell Laura i love her - Ray Peterson

4. dedicated to the one i love - The Shrilles

5. let it be me - The Everly Brothers

Don't stone me to death ya.

But really these songs are WAY WAY WAY better than what Akon or Sean Kingston sings or any of those repetetive songs that you hear 5 times a day on Hitz.fm.

Found my kebaya and tried it on at 2 in the morning

It's exciting to wake up one day and start counting back several generations to realize that I am 1/16 Japanese. Doesn't make me related to Yoko Ono but I'll take it=)

Peranakans Gone Wild

Here's what makes bad TV:
Watching CSI:Miami actually evolving into something interesting for once only to find out in the next episode that Horatio Caine never actually dies.

Come on the man only has one thing to do in the show... I bet this is how his script looks like:

Horatio Caine: take off shades. blabber something that sounds cool. put shades on. hands on waist. okay maybe that's 4 things.

So just let him die la for the love of gingerbread biscuits!!!

What makes good TV:
World Badminton Championships in India!

It's ridiculous how much I love badminton. I can drop everything to watch a good match. Last night my mum and I were screaming at the telly. It was nail-biting nerve wrecking jaw dropping constipating badminton. I must have looked horrible in my over sized T shirt and greasy hair yelling out obscenities. But who cares! Chong Wei lost!

Now with all the respect in the world for this guy, I was expecting him to win this tournament. I say he's mentally weak. But I guess every badminton fan knows that already. He cracks. And he cracks fast. But when at his best he's a joy to watch. Maybe it's because he's too complacent. He's already world number 1 but has yet to win any major titles=.=. He's DATUK Lee. He's got an Olympic medal The Olympic finals was anti climatic, a total bummer. That's how he ended up with a silver. He's receives a 3000 rm pension while still actively playing in this sport. Who gives a pension to a perfectly healthy man? Pensions are for retirees! Just because he's one of the best players Malaysia has had in a long time, doesn't mean we can give him everything! What this boy needs is a dose of Oprah or something. He needs to build confidence and learn to handle tough situations.

It was also equally frustrating to watch men's doubles pair Fairuzizuan Tazari and Zakry Latiff. One minute they were brilliant, the next they were shit. I swear I will suffer from a myocardial infarction if they keep playing like that. But they won la. Point is, they will not go far unless there is improvement.

No wonder that Indonesian Rexy keeps quitting.

Screwed up badminton squad aside, the Peranakans decided to go Italian. So we made pizza.
In case you do not know about the Peranakans, they are Straits born Chinese with a great mix of the best of the Malay and Chinese culture. Read all about it!

You have not lived unless you've tried authentic nyonya kuih.

Mind Blowing English

I have this weird habit of correcting people's English and detecting grammatical errors. Not implying that I speak or write perfect English but I just do that a lot. Sorry if I've done that to any of you, hope you do not think of me as a total arse.

Anyways.

I did not try out the cervix treatment
If you are going to make signs for a living, be sure to get a dictionary or someone to proof read.

According to the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary, the word 'Hilarious' means extremely funny. The most hilarious thing I've read all day.

I've always thought the guitar as a difficult instrument to play but having it sit in my room every day made me want to learn how to play it. What if one day I join The Amazing Race and the task was to play Tom Jones' "What's New Pussycat?" ?

Ever since my brother left for college, Mother has been showering all her TLC to my four-legged labrador+doberman. Now that I'm back at home Cherry must be jealous. She's been leaving muddy footprints all over the floor for me to clean every now and then. I swear she's doing that to get back at me. And for entertainment.

Timmy you nasty. He went back to the US today, and I'll probably only see him again eons later. But it's okay we had fun right? We've been friends for 7 years now and you still have not grown up. Stay that way.

Hello world!

My friend Lanny Boy once asked me why I do not blog. His reason being because, i quote: "because we dunno what's going on with you makcik..."

So here I am, jumping on the blogging bandwagon.

The notes accumulated after 1 year. Not that impressive compared to medic students. The Seventeen magazine on top was not part of the syllabus ya.

I've been on holiday now after completing my 1st year and I've been busy occupying myself with :

1. taking care of my 3 children from my previous marriage.

2. watching The Nanny (I cannot believe that show is still on, it's been more than 10 years since I last watched it!)

3. horseback riding in my backyard while faking an australian accent.

4. stalking my good looking neighbour.

Three of the above are true.

I was browsing around a bookstore one day, and I was surprised Mickey has not been replaced by Zac Efron or Transformers. Maybe the craze has not spread to Bintulu yet.

Who knew going to the stationary section could be so nostalgic kan. I remember my friends having the very cekap 3-tiered pencil box with compartments more than a toolbox.

There's something about Miri that is charming, so I had to go kepoh=)

Going on that 5 hour hike up Gua Niah was somehow very therapeutic. Tiring. VERY. But it was worth taking in the awesomeness of it all.

Told you it was awesome.

Made new friends too!

I was laughing the entire time I was trying this on. I was thinking, if dentistry doesn't work out for me, I just might have to buy this. Then I can go work as a showgirl in some tacky lounge called Agogo.
